  • Ted Zuk presented copies of the January operating report.  He said membership fees are now starting to be sent in and mentioned the option of paying for the membership on line or mailing in an application with the fee. Charlie mentioned that there are a lot of ICC members in our Southern Oregon area and encouraged current members to reach out and invite them to join our chapter. Ted said he had checked into the cost of obtaining a credit card machine to make it easier to take payments at monthly meetings and education classes. There is one machine available at Staples for a cost of $15 and Paypal will provide the service for a 2.75% monthly fee. There was a brief discussion about how it works and if it can be accessible on the chapter’s website. LauraLee made a motion to approve Ted to make the purchase of the credit card machine for approximately $15 and register for the Paypal service. Ken Sandlin seconded the motion. Motion carried.

V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  • 2013 SOCICC ABM – Ted provided more information on holding the ABM at Lake of the Woods. Our group can use the restaurant but it will be open to other customers; we can use the outdoor deck but weather might be an issue; there is a small room above the Marina Store that holds 15 people. The group discussed their concerns about this new information and discussed ideas for other possible places. Robert Rice suggested Diamond Lake and Ted offered to call there and get information. Nannette offered to call Ashland Springs Hotel and The Rogue Regency. Ted and Nannette will share their findings at the March 22nd meeting as Charlie said he would like to see a decision made then and move forward with getting a venue reserved.
  • Education Schedule for 2013 – Charlie mentioned the email Christy Taylor sent stating she has concluded negotiations for 2 half day classes by Matt Roselli on wet venting and on Grease Interceptors.  Christy and the education committee will meet next week to go over details and scheduling. Charlie stated that Christy mentioned giving contractors a discount of class fees but he questions whether this is prudent considering our chapter’s need for funds. Michael Grubbs said he feels consideration for discounts should be given to contractors who are unemployed and will mention this to Christy. Robert stated that when the education committee meets they will discuss this issue and work on completing all the details for the classes.

VI. NEW BUSINESS
  • OBCD update - Michael Morter spoke briefly about the House Bill #3426, #2698 which is proposed legislation to make #3462 permanent, and a rural codes bill that has yet to be assigned a number.
  • 2016 ICC ABM – Charlie shared an email from Julie Augustine, ICC Executive Management Director, regarding an invitation for chapter presidents to submit proposals to host the 2016 ICC ABM. Since the 2012 ICC ABM was held in Portland and hosted by the NW Chapters and the OBOA, the members in attendance were not interested at this time.
