SOUTHERN OREGON CHAPTER
INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL
MINUTES
July 26, 2013 / 12:00 P.M.
Taprock Grill, Grants Pass, OR
 
 
 
  1. CALL TO ORDER/INTRODUCTIONS
 
  • Chapter President, Charles Chase, called the meeting to order at 12:03 P.M.
  • Members and guests in attendance:  Charles Chase, Ted Zuk, Nannette Chase, Michael Grubbs, Michael Morer, Chris Reising, Brian Pike, Audra Wonsyld, Lynda Wulf, Derek Zwagerman, Rick Friedman, and Don Taylor.
 
  1. CODE PRESENTATION/EDUCATION
 
  • Dave Hill and Casey Trimble from Intertech gave a presentation on Field Evaluations. Intertech operates in over 100 countries. The presentation covered state laws, listing & labeling, and information on testing laboratories.
 
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
 
  • Michael Grubbs made a motion to approve the June minutes as presented and Chris Reising seconded the motion. Motion carried.
 
IV. REPORTS FROM OFFICERS
 
  • Operating Report - Ted Zuk handed out copies of the June 2013 operating report and a report on the July 25, 2013, Photovoltaic class.
 
V. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
 
  • SOCICC ABM Scholarships – Charlie stated that he thought it would be a good idea to consider offering a scholarship to our chapters
 
VI. NEW BUSINESS
  • 2013 ICC ABM – Charlie asked who in our chapter was planning on attending the ICC ABM in Atlantic City. Robert Rice will be going to represent OBOA. There was discussion on ICC providing a free registration to all chapter presidents.  Michael Grubbs stated that with the Chapter Rewards credits we have earned we should get one more free registration. Michael asked Robert Rice if it was okay to put him down for ‘advocating for ICC’ on the Chapter Awards report. Robert said that was fine.
  • SOCICC ABM Update – Nannette mentioned that two of the guest speakers scheduled for the meeting, Melanie Adams and Kraig Stevenson, will not be able to attend this year. Michael Morten said that Tom Phillips from the BCD is planning on attending the ABM and will be a guest speaker. Charlie suggested asking a prominent figure from Ashland to also be a guest speaker. Michael Grubbs volunteered to find someone.  Nannette reminded everyone to go to the chapter’s website and register for the ABM. The officers will meet briefly after the chapter meeting today and discuss planning details for the ABM.

  • None submitted.
VII. OPEN DISCUSSION
  • Michael Grubbs introduced Derek Zwagerman as the new Building Official for the City of Central Point. Derek was previously with Medford Fire Department.

Guest Speakers: Robert Rice, OBOA President and Tom Phillips Regional & Local Government Manager with BCD.

  • The President adjourned the meeting at 1:31P.M.
